My name is Adelinn Ippensen, and I am currently a Senior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I am majoring in Broadcast Journalism and minoring in Political Science & Public Relations.
All forms of media and public relations interest me, but I take a special interest in politics. I love watching and discussing the events of our current times and analyzing what effect it has and will continue to have on our society. I hope to one day work in the public relations or communications department of a political organization.
At the University of Illinois, I am currently an anchor for Good Morning Illini, the University's first weekly morning show. I have enjoyed the opportunity to create exciting content and be a part of a team that delivers news to people from all over the world. I also contributed to the University of Illinois' own television network, UI-7 News as a student anchor and multimedia reporter.
I am a member of Chi Omega sorority where I was elected to serve as the Director of Community Service. I am humbled to have received this leadership position and organize efforts to raise $23,000 for Make-A-Wish. I previously served as Chi Omega's Public Relations Director where I co-managed our website, social media platforms and created promotional graphics.
In October 2017 I was crowned Miss Springfield 2018, an official preliminary to the Miss Illinois and Miss America Scholarship Organizations. I served my community and state by speaking with people of all ages on my platform, "Promoting Youth Involvement in Government." I worked to educate others about the importance of youth being involved and informed in our day-to-day government processes and current events. I did this by speaking to over 1000 students and teachers in schools, participating in political activities, and working with local, state, and federal political figures. I also participated in various community appearances and philanthropy efforts like raising money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. At the 2018 Miss Illinois competition I placed as a Top 10 Semifinalist.
At the University of Illinois I am also on the Velocity Dance Team, a registered student organization, where I am a current team member and served as the Fundraising Coordinator.
